Sabine Wesseln

Already from her youth Sabine Wesseln was attracted by Spain and its beautiful horses hoping that one day her dream of her own Spanish horse would become true.

And indeed, at the age of 20 years Sabine bought her first horse, and a few years later arrived “ Gallito”, a beautiful white stallion. Sabine received most of her formation in the equestrian art from such eminent riders as Prince of Auersberg and Juan Rubio who taught her the “Spanish way” to ride and to understand these wonderful creatures better.

But living in Germany and working as as a real estate broker was not to be Sabine’s live fulfilment and she decided to pack up and move to Spain taking horse and dog with her. The first station was Mallorca where she participated successfully at numerous local competitions including the Balearic Championships and where her daughter Mara-Lisa was born. But Sabine wanted more, be closer to where horses are the anfitrions.

So the whole family, after having tried Marbella first, moved to Jerez de la Frontera, the horse capital of Andalusia, where Sabine’s ultimate dream of her own riding school started to become reality with the purchase of an old cortijo Hacienda El Boyal, on the outskirts of Jerez de la Frontera. Hacienda El Boyal, once the family residence of Spain’s foremost bullfighter of the 50ies and 60ies, Juan Belmonte, is now being converted into a 4-star country hotel with a state-of-the-art riding centre where Sabine can dedicate her time to the training of young horses and the teaching of beginners in the beautiful art of horsemanship .

Her goal? To make people understand and appreciate more fully the noblesse and beauty of the Spanish horse and to help the young and the advanced rider alike to find fulfilment and happiness on the back of an andalusian horse.
