MANOLO OLIVA RAMOS
Manolo is an accomplished horseman who has received his training and formation in the disciplines of "Doma Clasica", "Doma Vaquera" and "Alta Escuela" from the very best riders of Spain.
If you have ever worked with Manolo you will know that he always finds a solution for any problem big or small, through his deep understanding of the sensibility of each horse. He will indicate the right measures which are so important for the further training of the horse. We are very proud to have been able to include such an accomplished horseman in our team at Hacienda El Boyal.
Born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1968 Manuel Oliva Ramos is today better known today as Manolo Oliva, the born horseman who already at the tender age of 6 years used to join the farm workers for their daily work in the fields. When he was 15 years old he received his first formal riding lessons under the tuition of the eminent rider of the Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Equestre, Don Manuel Ruiz, who taught him the basics in Doma Clasica, Alta Escuela and Riendas Largas. But it was finally Don Luis Ramos-Pacil who developed and intensified Manolo's sensibility in his horsemanship and consequently in his (Manolo's) students.
At the age of only 21 years Manolo was asked to run the riding school of the Real maestranza de Caballeria de Ronda where his duties included the training of the horses as well as the teaching of students of all ages and levels in the various modalities of the Doma Vaquera, Clasica and Alta Escuela. But Manolo did not stop there and in the ensuing years dedicated time to learn the "western" discipline including "reining", "cutting" and "cow working" and reached such skills as to be able to participate in European championships under the tuition of the eminent western champion, Jean-Claude Disly.
Today it is said of Manolo that he is one of the very few horseman who has the ability to transmit his knowledge and sensibility to his students be it rider or horse and to develop these qualities right from the beginning up to tournament level.
